Vitamin D COPD Natural Remedy

The natural health researchers at Institute for Vibrant Living (IVL) are investigating natural remedies available for COPD and related lung ailments. Here is their latest report:

With over 300 million people worldwide affected by asthma and other pulmonary disorders, it has become important to determine if there are preventative measures that can be taken to ensure healthy lungs.

The benefits of vitamin D are numerous, including enhancement of blood calcium levels, cancer prevention and improvement in bone structure.

There is also growing evidence in scientific circles that vitamin D may also boost lung health.

Easier Breathing with COPD?

Research presented at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society disclosed a new method by which vitamin D may slow or possibly stop the development of asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania explained how calcitriol (a form of vitamin D) can reduce the growth of “airway smooth muscle,” a problem found in those with COPD and asthma, which results in decreased lung capacity over time.

The lung cells of 12 asthmatic and healthy volunteers were subjected to a potent corticosteroid and calcitriol, both of which are known to help reduce inflammation in the lungs.

The researchers found that the corticosteroid, a commonly used asthma treatment, had very little effect on the growth of “airway smooth muscle.” Conversely, the benefits of vitamin D (calcitriol) on the growth of “airway smooth muscle” were significant.

Hope is on the Horizon

There is hope within the medical community that vitamin D therapy may be helpful in the management of COPD, based on its promising anti-inflammatory properties.

An article in the February 2009 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine examined the vitamin D intake of 883 persons, 12 years of age and older, over a period of six years.

A correlation was found that people with the lowest intake of vitamin D contracted the most upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs).

As vitamin D intake increased, the incidence of URTIs lessened.  It is worthy to note however, that a recent shorter-in-duration study did not show a change in URTIs with vitamin D supplementation.

More research is needed to help define the best dosage which will provide the most benefits of vitamin D supplements.

Symptoms of Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin often nicknamed the “sunshine vitamin” because it is produced in the body as a result of exposure to sunlight.

Low vitamin D levels can trigger:

chronic fatigue,

depression,

unexplained weight loss,

diabetes,

stroke,

heart disease,

osteoporosis.

Sources of Vitamin D

Spending more time in the sun on a regular basis may increase levels in the body, but a lack of vitamin D can still be found among people living in warm climates.

In addition, too much sun can increase your risk for skin cancer, so it is important to use sunscreen after 15 to 20 minutes of exposure.

You can also boost your intake of vitamin D by eating these foods:

eggs,

cod liver oil,

salmon,

tuna fish,

vitamin D-enriched products like: milk, orange juice and yogurt.

Getting Enough Vitamin D

Vitamin D can also be ingested in the form of a supplement, and dosage recommendations vary depending on age. People under age 50 should take 5 micrograms per day, those who are 51-70 years need 10 micrograms daily and folks over 70 should take 15 micrograms per day.

A great source of this critical vitamin can be found in Liquid Vitamin 528 from the Institute for Vibrant Living. It features 1252 IU of Vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol (313% of the daily requirement) and best of all, it delivers it to the body in a purified bio-photon restructured water base. (Simply put – it’s super bio-absorbable.)

Ovarian Cyst – Natural Remedy

Providing you have received a diagnosis from your doctor that the cysts on your ovaries are not dangerous, you might like to consider an ovarian cyst natural remedy. Very often, even when your symptoms are unpleasant and, in some cases, intolerable, doctors still recommend the “watchful waiting” approach. Alternatively, you might be offered a course of the birth control pill which will halt ovulation, which in turn, stops cysts developing and therefore helps to reduce the symptoms.

Conventional treatment might also include surgery to drain or remove cysts and in some severe cases, removing the ovary altogether. Naturally, most women will avoid this option, particularly if they haven’t completed their family.

The truth is that conventional options are never a permanent solution as all they do is help eliminate the symptoms and not the root causes, meaning that whatever caused the cysts in the first place is still there. In over 95% of cases, the ovarian cysts reform after conventional treatment, with symptoms being at least as bad, if not worse than before.

On the other hand, by using an ovarian cyst natural remedy you can both relieve symptoms and shrink the cysts altogether, the aim being to restore balance within the body. For symptomatic relief, try simple remedies such as heat therapy. A hot water bottle on the abdomen can be very soothing, as can a hot bath. Gentle massage can also help to relieve the pain.

To shrink the cysts, an ovarian cyst natural remedy will need to incorporate the following:-

* Dietary changes
* Cleansing protocols
* Detoxification
* Implementing an exercise regime
* Supplementation of diet

If you would like to see a comprehensive, holistic tried and tested system which is completely guaranteed to get rid of ovarian cysts, please visit Ovarian Cyst Miracle.

Natural Remedy Is The Best Remedy

Acid reflux is a common gastro-intestinal problem and many people suffer from it. For some people it turns into a chronic problem over a period of time. There may be many reasons for this. Excessive dependence on medications or drugs and unhealthy dietary habits aggravates this problem. When a person suffers from acid reflux he feels a burning sensation from the chest to the abdomen. At times this sensation becomes extreme and the person finds the pain unbearable. Usually old people are more prone to suffer from acid reflux. This is because as a person age his metabolism weakens and he takes a long time to digest food. Actually it is that undigested food which triggers the process of acid reflux.

If you want a medical explanation for this problem then it can be explained in simple terms. To help digest food the stomach passes acids and juices. When these juices and acids are displaced to other organs of the body it leads to discomfort and finally there is a burning sensation. So, how to prevent this problem? Well passing of acids and juices by the stomach is a natural process which cannot be stopped but there are ways through which you can get relief.

Usually people seeking acid reflux remedies opt for medications. However these medications do not provide any cure. At the most these help to get temporary relief from the pain. Moreover prolonged use of such medications may lead to side effects. It may also affect your health in the future. Some people also use artificial acid regulators. These have side effects and therefore you should use them in limited quantities. Another problem is that you may get addicted to these medications which can be detrimental in the long run.

Since acid reflux is a common problem it is therefore better to seek natural remedies. There are many natural ingredients which can help treat this problem naturally. Applying the old adage Prevention is better than cure can also work wonders. Try to identify and remove the factors that trigger acid reflux. Carbonated beverages, caffeine, spicy food, highly acidic dishes etc are said to be the culprits. Make a habit to avoid such eatables. Smoking and taking alcohol also aggravates the problem. There are natural remedies in the form of ginger, apple cider vinegar (an age old remedy), baking soda etc. The good thing is that these have no side effects and also helps to prevent this problem in the future and above all these help improve your overall health.

Natural Hair Loss Remedy – Searching For Affordable Options

Recently I found a product which was worth considering adding to the hair loss remedy section of one of my websites. This is not something I take lightly and try to make the best decision possible based on a number of factors. My first criterion is to examine the ingredients. The list included almond oil, golden seed extract, meadowfoam seed oil, hops oil, soap bark extract, wheat germ oil, calendula oil, cherry bark extract, safflower oil, lanolin oil, shea butter, matricaria oil, and vitamins D and E as well as a few other ingredients. Sounds compelling, after all everything but the kitchen sink was thrown in. My second step is, as often as possible, to give the product a try, to see whether is has the desired effect. My conclusion was that while improving hair quality and perhaps stimulating growth slightly it was not worthy of being called a natural hair loss remedy and it was not added. After all it didn’t regrow hair.

There are many different causes for hair loss some permanent, some progressive, and some temporary. Examples of temporary balding are chemotherapy drugs, child birth, crash diets, stress, or surgery. These conditions are medically referred to as telogen effluvium a form or a subcategory of toxic alopecia. They cause hair shedding which can be rapid but regrowth takes place naturally a few months after the cause has been eliminated. For these types of balding our natural hair loss remedy listed above could prove helpful for both stimulating hair growth and overall scalp conditioning.

But in the world of hair loss there is one condition that is head and shoulders above the rest both in stubbornness and frequency. It is known as androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness). It is a genetically driven condition caused by the androgen hormones testosterone, androsteinedione, and dihydrotestosterone. Some experts suggest that it is responsible for nine out of ten cases of balding. The mechanism is fairly simple, androgen hormones lead by dihydrotestosterone (DHT) strangle and shrink the hair follicles. Some of the follicles die, while others are rendered incapable of producing new hair growth. The only real way to control the condition is by either reducing the production of DHT or limiting its access to the follicles.

Are there any natural remedies for hair loss that can do this?

There seem to be two herbs that are mentioned; saw palmetto extract and nettle root extract. There is good evidence to confirm saw palmettos effectiveness and this herb is one of a select few natural substances that have been approved by the FDA for use in hair loss programs. Saw palmetto lowers DHT levels by blocking receptor sites on cell membranes. As DHT levels subside, hair loss will subside as well. Nettle root extract is high in vitamins A and C as well as several hair health minerals. It works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for producing DHT and has been popular in Europe for many years.

What Next?

Your next step in finding a natural remedy for hair loss is to search the internet for hair re-growth products containing one or both of these natural ingredients along with biotin, vitamin B6 and natural extracts to provide your scalp and hair follicles with vital supplemental nutrients. It is also important to point out that it is unlikely that severe balding caused by androgenetic alopecia can be reversed. Those who have lost most of their hair due to this condition will have three basic options, hair transplant surgery, wigs, and toupees.

A Guide to Finding the Best Natural Hair Loss Remedy

If you are searching for the best natural hair loss remedy you are not alone. Throughout the world many peoples lives are blighted by the problem of balding, most are searching for a natural hair loss remedy that would work for them.

New companies are cashing in on their desperation by flooding the market with poor-quality cures that are largely ineffective and which fail to attack the root cause of why people are losing their hair today.

Women as well as men are affected by baldness and each needs a solution tailored to their physiological differences to have the highest possible success rate. With this in mind you should search for a natural treatment that provides formulas which address the specific needs of both women and men. This demonstrates the company really understand their customers needs.

The Right Ingredients

When searching for the most effective natural hair loss remedy it is a matter of understanding what causes you to lose hair and which natural ingredients have a proven track record in preventing it. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is an aggressive hormone that attacks the hair follicles eventually leading to the hair stopping growing.

A potent natural remedy targets the DHT and reduces its presence in your body and particularly on your head. The reductions in DHT stop the loss of hair and allow your body to regrow the hair that has previously been lost.

Natural hair loss remedies are centuries old and these traditional treatments predate the man made chemical solutions by many years. Communities all over the world have turned to these natural approaches with great success.

What to Look For

You should take care when selecting the company to entrust your future hair with. Not all claims and solutions have proven reliable and you really should spend some time researching the good and bad among ingredients to find the best natural remedy for you.

When working to address your problem you will boost your chances of success by living a healthy lifestyle and taking exercise, then find a natural treatment that works for you. Some natural ingredients that have proven effective are magnesium, zinc, biotin and saw Palmetto. These natural ingredients combine together to reduce stress and in so doing help prevent the loss of hair.

Non natural products like Propecia or Rogaine can be effective but can also have some worrying side effects. I recommend avoiding artificial products and sticking to the best natural hair loss remedy that has been proven to be effective.

Anxiety Treatment – The Natural Remedy for Anxiety Relief

Anxiety Treatment – The Natural Remedy for Anxiety Relief

L-Theanine, naturally occurring in green tea, proves effective in dealing with anxiety symptoms and providing anxiety relief

Anxiety is a state of intense fear, uncertainty, uneasiness, or apprehension due to anticipation of an imagined or real threatening future event. Anxiety can be both physically and psychologically devastating to the Anxiety sufferer’s life. Anxiety is often sub-categorized according to the focus of the perceived threat. There is social anxiety, separation anxiety, dating anxiety, performance anxiety, math anxiety, etc. Stress and anxiety often go hand in hand and can result in anxiety depression as the individual feels powerless to receive any anxiety help.

There are a variety of anti-anxiety treatments to consider in overcoming anxiety. For some, anxiety medications prove to be a source of anxiety relief. Other’s prefer not to use any of the anti-anxiety drugs and opt for more natural cures for anxiety management. These may include herbs for anxiety, acupuncture anxiety treatments, anxiety vitamins, aromatherapy for anxiety relief, even hypnosis has has proved beneficial overcoming anxiety.

This article discusses the perhaps little known amino acid L-Theanine as a natural remedy for anxiety relief.

L-Theanine is a unique free form amino acid found only in the tea plant and in the mushrooms Xerocomus badius and certain species of genus Camellia, C. japonica and C. sasanqua. Often drinkers of green tea report a feeling of calmness they feel after ingesting a cup or two even though green tea has roughly half the caffeine of coffee. This is due to the high L-Theanine content.

In addition to reducing anxiety symptoms, studies have shown L-Theanine may be effective in promoting concentration, supporting the immune system, improving learning performance, lowering blood pressure, increasing formation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, and increasing brain dopamine levels among other positive benefits with no known downside.

Studies in cooperation with Taiyo Kagaku Co., The University of Shizuoka, and The Family Planning Institute of Japan have shown that women taking 200 mg L-Theanine daily have lower incidence of PMS symptoms. These symptoms include physical, mental, and social symptoms. Overall, a significant alleviation of PMS symptoms by L-Theanine was observed.

While still under investigation, L-Theanine appears to have a role in the formation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA). GABA blocks release of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, playing a key role in the relaxation effect.

Everyone knows the effects stress and anxiety can have on an individual’s physical state of well-being. Fascinating neurochemistry research has revealed that given a shot of GABA essentially turned back the clocks in the brains of older monkeys, whose brain function briefly operated at levels normally seen in monkeys less than half their age.

GABA, or gamma-amino butyric acid, is a neurotransmitter chemical that is essential for optimizing how brain cells transmit messages to each other and acts to put a damper on unwanted brain signaling activity. Although GABA’s age-related decline has not been documented in humans, a host of studies in mammals, including other primates, suggests that a similar process is at work in people.

Monkeys ages 26 and 32 — considered old age for monkeys — that got GABA directly delivered to their neurons responded to visual patterns, such as flashing vertical and horizontal lines, in much the same way as monkeys aged 7 to 9 years old did.

Without GABA delivery, the monkeys’ aged brains had more difficulty firing neurons that specifically gauge various aspects of depth perception, motion and color. Instead, older monkeys have more random firings that make it difficult to observe visual nuances. In younger monkeys, GABA had no effect since their brains already had optimal GABA functioning.

L-Theanine is considered to be safe based on its historical use as a component of tea and on favorable toxicology studies. Tea is the most consumed beverage worldwide after water, and has been consumed for thousands of years by billions of people. It is estimated that a heavy tea drinker (6-8 cups daily) will consume between 200 to 400 mg of L-Theanine daily.

While dosage for depression and anxiety disorder remain individual, it is recommended to take 100 to 200 mg 1 to 3 times daily for anxiety relief. Based on the results of clinical studies, it has been established that L-Theanine is effective in single dosages in the range of 50-200 mg. It is suggested that subjects with higher levels of anxiety take a dose at the higher end of the effective range (100 – 200 mg) for overcoming anxiety.

Burn Causes and Symptoms and Natural Home Remedy for Natural Cure of Burns

Burn is the name given to an injury that is caused by skin’s exposure to excessive heat, electricity, chemicals, light, radiation, friction or fire. Most of us must have experienced the condition once in our lifetime. Burns can be categorized into three types – first degree, second degree and third degree, depending on the severity of the skin damage caused. While first degree burns cause damage to the top layer of the skin and get healed in a day or two, second degree burns are more severe and causes blisters. The latter are much more painful and also need special attention and care. Third degree burns cause damage to all the layers of the skin and are extremely painful. They make the skin look charred as the injury penetrates deep into the nerves. In the following lines, we have listed certain home remedies for treating burns.
